Some 80,000 square miles, in which perhaps 25 million people live and work, were affected. –New York Times, November 10, 1965. USA: V: The power failure of 1965 Electrical lights all along the Niagara region of New York State began flickering at 5:17 P.M. on November 9, 1965. The tripping of power plant switches resulted in a blackout that rapidly spread eastward. Four minutes later Massachusetts fell into darkness, followed by Connecticut and the northern states of Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and two provinces in Canada. At 5:27 P.M., Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, and most of Brooklyn were suddenly plunged into darkness, trapping 800,000 passengers on New York’s crowded subways during the peak of the rush hour. The blackout continued spreading into parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Long Island. When the blackout began, Primary Moon was rising over New York State while Secondary Mercury was setting over Vermont, New Hampshire, and southern Maine. Therefore, the entire Northeast was framed by a narrowly focused Moon / Mercury Transcendental Midpoint-Field. Notably, the sense of “emotional support” and “tender-ness” (Primary Moon) that many New Yorkers said they experienced while “communi-cating” (Secondary Mercury) with total strangers during this moment of “hardship, severe limitations, restrictions, and delays” (Secondary Saturn) were among the most outstanding and memorable aspects of this event. http://www.dominantstar.com/01_biography.htm
